Getting clients back to ‘business as usual’ following fire and flood
When the Telscombe Tavern had a fire one afternoon, Mr Gleam was on the premises within 45 minutes and had carried out the necessary cleaning to allow the restaurant to serve customers dinner the following evening.
A recently restored pub and restaurant set in the beautiful surroundings of the East Sussex coastline, the Telscombe Tavern suffered fire and smoke damage which left appliances and upholstery covered in soot and smelling strongly of smoke.
Within seemingly impossible timeframes, Mr Gleam arrived on the premises to assess the work and equipment needed to get the restaurant back to ‘business as usual’.
Cleaners began working to clean smoke and fire damage immediately, to reduce any further disruption to the restaurant’s operations.
We performed three key jobs:
Mr Gleam’s Company Manager, Joseph Mason said, “We worked intensively to clean fire and smoke damage and took measures to mitigate future fires. Telscombe Tavern were back serving food within 24 hours of the fire.”

Just like fires, floods can cause material damage and business losses from closure.
So when Baron Homes’ Tower Point – an office block in the centre of Brighton – suffered a burst water pipe, they were extremely keen for a rapid yet thorough clean.
With extensive water damage to the building, Baron Homes called Mr Gleam in the early hours of the morning. By lunchtime, we had implemented a disaster recovery plan and had deployed drying equipment around the building.
“We had to first, dry the site using dehumidifiers & fans. Only when it was completely dry, could we properly clean it”, said Paul Higginson, Operations Manager at Mr Gleam.
“During the ‘clean up’ it was vital to monitor and measure the drying process. For example, the amount of electricity used by the dehumidifiers needed to be measured for the client’s insurance claim,” says Paul.
This called for Mr Gleam staff to remain on hand throughout the entire cleaning process to track, record and report water absorption levels and energy usage.
With several offices affected within the building, business were back to being operational in 3-7 days.
Mr Gleam. Service that shines.
