The award winning Jubilee Library is a modern building, opened in 2005, located in the vibrant city of Brighton, East Sussex. Among other accolades, it has
received the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building award which rewards excellence in design and procurement in the public sector.
The building was constructed to the highest environmental standards and the library has become fifth busiest library in the country, with 1 million visitors every year.
Mr Gleam won the contract to clean the library, which spans a total of 2,500 square metres, on a daily basis, including maintaining cleanliness of:
In the very early stages of the year-long contract Mr Gleam had started to make a huge difference to the upkeep of the public building.
One of these savings came from the fact that because of Mr Gleam’s emphasis on investing in state-of-the-art equipment to make their operations highly efficient.
“By investing in modern cleaning kit, we can resource more efficiently,” says Paul Higginson, Mr Gleam’s Operational Manager.
"With our highly-trained cleaning staff and by using commercial wide-area vacuum cleaners for example, Mr Gleam almost halved the time taken to clean the building compared with previous cleaning contractors, providing a real value-for-money service,” he says.
Besides the daily clean, Mr Gleam staff have also been tasked with deep cleaning the library four times a year – even individual books are cleaned – when the library closes for special cleaning days.
Importantly, Mr Gleam’s daily cleaning never interrupts library operations. We are always finished in time for the library to begin serving the public each day.
